In the Boat show in Cannes 2024, it is celebrated from the 10th to the 15th of September, Azimuth and Volvo Penta have an innovation historical: the first yacht that combines the Volvo Penta IPS with hybrid propulsion. The new Seadeck 7 with the advanced hybrid system of rudder propeller, Volvo Penta, and has been developed in collaboration with Azimuth.
This yacht is the first mix in diesel engines, and electrical batteries with the efficiency of the IPS system from Volvo Penta, enabling hybrid operation without the need for a generator. The Seadeck 7 you can navigate in electric mode at speeds of up to 11 knots and stay anchored emission-free for up to 12 hours, significantly improving the sustainability and the comfort on board.
The package hybrid-electric Volvo Penta in the Seadeck 7 operates in a manner similar to hybrid vehicles, alternating between electric motor and diesel according to the speed, which makes it easy to use, reduces fuel consumption, reduces CO2 emissions and improves the quality of life on board.
Among the main features are the navigation almost silent at low speeds, quiet nights, thanks to the batteries and a system of docking with joystick in electric-only mode, which makes docking easy task. In addition, allows access to areas with restrictions on emissions, which offers an experience that is closer to nature.
If you compare it with yachts conventional of a similar size and line of the inner shaft, the technology of the Seadeck 7, along with the use of carbon fiber (40%) and the efficient design of the helmet, contributes to a reduction of CO2 emissions of up to 40% in a year of typical use.
A quiet experience on the water
The hybrid system-electric Volvo Penta offers the best of both worlds: the autonomy and speed of the motors to traditional along with smooth transitions, lower noise, and greater comfort in the electric mode. This allows a fluid navigation, an acceleration electric and an excellent response of the transmission. The batteries provide a self-sufficient life, allowing for a more intimate connection with nature. In addition, the docking with joystick mode, pure electric is smooth and accurate, improving the handling and the browsing experience.
This system allows you to navigate at low speeds in electric mode, which allows for a greater closeness to nature and access to protected areas. During the evenings, the system allows you to remain anchored without noise, with the batteries recharged during navigation or in port.
The package hybrid-electric offers four modes of operation: mode, Pure Electric allows you to navigate without emissions up to 11 knots; the mode Hybrid Standard switches between the electric motor and the diesel; the mode Hybrid Boost improves the acceleration; and the next mode Cross-over. In Hotel mode, the batteries provide energy systems of the yacht for up to 12 hours, eliminating the need for a generator.
A fully integrated system
The package hybrid-electric Volvo Penta is fully integrated, with a total control from the helm to the propeller. The Seadeck 7 is equipped with a hybrid system Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1350 double, along with a electric motor 160 kW, ensuring a performance that is powerful and efficient. Electric motors and diesel work in parallel to ensure smooth transitions and an efficient operation.
The system incorporates advanced technologies such as the electronic control of vessels (EVC) Volvo Penta, which allows innovative features such as docking with joystick, steering with joystick and dynamic positioning (DPS), in either electric or hybrid. In addition, the system Glass Cockpit it offers an intuitive interface that shows the modes of navigation and the status of the battery. The EVC ensures the monitoring of the engine and a premium technical support.
